Poolside Hairdos

  1. This is one of my favorite pictures. Here's a description from a fine-print dealer:

A desert house in Palm Springs designed by Richard Neutra for Edgar Kaufman. Lita Baron approaches Nelda Linsk, right, wife of art dealer Joseph Linsk who is talking to a friend, Helen Dzo Dzo.Signed and editioned by photographer.

Photo is by Slim Aarons and I want Helen Dzo Dzo's lace outfit (what a great last name, too!)

This appears to be from the same shoot:

  4. Thank you, Untouched Takeaway!

I want to know more about Miss Helen Dzo Dzo.

Oddly, I have a feeling she might start up a blog any day now.

  5. (whew) Thanks! I thought I did something untoward!

Lita Baron (walking poolside) was the wife of Rory Calhoun at one time.

Nelda Linsk is a realtor - the house belonged to her & her late husband (she still has the same hair!)

She's also on Facebook (according to her info, she married her boss, Mr Linsk!!)

Should we post on her wall and ask her about Helen's fabulous last name and outfit?! :D

I can't find much about Helen - I *think* she's in some way associated with St John Knits.

    1. Helen Dzo Dzo was a model in the early sixties and then a modeling show coordinator for many years. She is in her eighties, married to architect Hugh Kaptur and could still fit into that outfit. (She thinks she knows where it is in her extensive closet.)

  7. I'm not on Facebook so I'll leave it up to you to do the honours, if you're interested in finding out more too.

    Love that outfit!

  9. Oh I just saw this now. Yes, it's a Slim. This book was stolen off of my desk at a former job. It was one of the reasons that I quit!
One of those photos that I wish I could live in.

  10. Droolworthy and thank to Untouched Takeaway for the amazing history. Ah Neutra...Palm Springs. I could totally live in this photo too.

  11. Not *this* Neutra house, but a pretty darned good doppelganger! And it's for sale!
