Closed for Christmas: Time for Home Remedy Beauty

If you haven't been beautified by the HHoF you are out of luck. Our employees have all been sent home with bonus checks, a Whitman's Sampler and a Bottle of Crown Royal to be with their families.

So it looks like its "home remedy" beauty time.  While mayo can be glopped into your wet hair and then your head can be wrapped in a warm towel, you do have to remember to wash it out.

Whatever you do, do NOT cut your own hair.

Just remember, whatever you do: Just because there is a plaster mask of Santa on the Wall doesn't mean that a plaster masque will work for you.

See you after the yule log is snuffed out and the fruitcake is digested.

Blue Christmas

Normally, its fun and games here at the Hair Hall of Fame, but this Christmas season brings with it a sad note.

This time last year, one of our own, "Kabuki Zero"(in the picture above), whose real name was William, but was called Billy by his friends, was readying for necessary heart surgery.  And he was very fatalistic about the outcome.

Following the surgery, Kabuki demanded to be released from the hospital feeling as if he had to get home to his beloved pets, despite the protestations of the doctors and cardiac care, he signed the wavers and left the hospital to return to his home.

He died in the middle of night.  His body was found the next morning by a friend.

Sometimes, the people we know and love do things that may not make rational sense, and there is no sense to what happened other than he needed to have his way, for a reason really unknown to anyone but himself.

All of us miss you something awful, Billy.

Love the people who mean everything to you, because sometimes, it can be too late to show it, or tell them.

When Cookie's time comes - and I am not planning on going anywhere anytime, soon, one of the first people that I'll look up upon reaching the afterlife will be Billy.   He'll be sitting there, legs crossed, and fit to be tied "You have kept me waiting."

Perhaps, but I'll make it one day.  MYM.

When in doubt about your hair and appearance, ask...

WWEMD?

Save for her appearance in Airplane and the cover of her disco album, the Merm was an expert at how to look her best.

Sure, she had a voice that could blast the skin off a ripe peach.  But she always looked her best.

So remember, if you see an outfit, or a hair style, tattoo, before you buy, ask, what would Ethel Merman do?

I think you'll find yourself with answer of charm, poise and good taste.

Hairy Situation in Washington, DC

News out of Washington, DC that does not involve Donald Trump's hair.

Apparently, parts of the Washington, DC metro rail line have become so caked with layers of human hair that it presents a fire hazard.

Close-up of hair fibre accumulation

“I was flabbergasted — flabbergasted — at the amount of hair that’s in the Metro,” said Brian Sherlock, a safety specialist for Amalgamated Transit Union.

“Hair literally comes off of people and off of clothing and gets sucked up."

The hair gets sucked up into the tunnel, and collects on insulators that house the electric third rail. The felt-like lining is 1/8 inches thick in some places, and could pose a fire risk by trapping heat.

“The amount of debris is just beyond vulgar to think of,” Sherlock said.

And the Password is....

Poseidon's Underworld has an adorable post filled with screen grabs of lots of glamorously coiffed dames that graced that game show back in those good old mid-century days.

Here's but one of many you'll find.

I'm especially fond of Joan Fontaine's glorious Haddasah flip.

Movember

It's Movember. Are you growing a moustache?

Grow a moustache this month and do your part to raise awareness for men's health. You can shave it off at the end of the month. Or you can leave it forever and, like Salvador Dali's moustache (above) it may remain intact forever!

Katy Perry's Hair

Katy Perry (born Katheryn Hudson) turns 33 today...

"I'm really strong as Katy Perry and then sometimes I'm not as strong as Katheryn Hudson."

"People like talk about my hair, right? They don't like it or they wish that it was longer. I so badly want to be Katheryn Hudson that I don't even want to look like Katy Perry anymore sometimes."

"That is a little bit of why I cut my hair, because I really want to be my authentic self 100%. It hurts when I don’t feel like I can.”
