Challenging Clients #13
No matter how many clients get backed up on a Monday morning, Mrs. Melvin (Flora) Carmichael always wants the full-on glamour package, and you can bet she wants a discount for being a weekly.
It's bad enough having to match her bangs to her goddam turkey-feather pillbox, and it's taking more and more time every week just to find her thin little lips in order to stencil on her Max Factor Crimson Demoiselle, but lately I'm having trouble convincing her that it's just not possible to cloak her permanently in a soft-focus haze. I think I'll have to call her husband and tell him it's time to Vaseline the mirrors...

Challenging Clients #10
Meet Mrs. Harlan (Eleanora) Mortensen. She was a regular for years, and I dreaded every appointment. Oh, I know - she looks sweet as pie, but believe you me: you get her monthly Copper Temptress rinse one shade off and that crone will cut a beauty operator. I finally palmed her off on Mr. José over at KlassiKuts on Plantagenet Street - told him she was a rich widow looking for a Latin mister right. He was mad, but she only lasted six more months 'til her daughter from Mahopac came down and took her home. Just as well - it was getting harder and harder to ignore her little incontinence issue...

Challenging Client #9: Color Magic
Hattie was a three-times-a-week wash-and-set regular for years. I finally started matching her rinse to her foundation, so that at least from a distance you had no idea just how far advanced her little hairline issue had gotten...
