Houston, We Have a Problem

Here's something you don't see every day -- a woman running around in the ceiling like a squirrel on the loose ... as cops yell at her to come down.

Houston PD responded to a burglary call at Hall of Fame Hair Studio last week after the manager reported a mostly-naked, bleeding female locked in the bathroom.

When cops showed up, the woman allegedly climbed up into the ceiling ... and ran around like a maniac. Eventually she came down and was arrested for criminal mischief.

We're told she had run into the shop after getting into a confrontation with a woman at a nearby apartment complex.

I Had Nothing to do With This!

Collier deputies say a Golden Gate woman hit a stranger in the face multiple times and then walked across the street to finish a hair appointment.
The victim was sitting in her car at a service station Wednesday evening when an unknown woman came up and hit her in the face three times, according to an arrest report.
The attendant at Jiffy Lube, 4840 Golden Gate Parkway, recognized the woman as his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Dorys Leidys Quintana.
Quintana then left the service station and returned to a salon across the street where she was having her hair done, the report said.

Drag Marks?

A 600-pound safe containing about $1,000 was reported stolen from a Bridgewater hair salon this morning, according to police.

When a receptionist at Pro-Cuts at 233 Broad St. arrived for work this morning, she found the salon’s back door open and called the police to report that multiple safes were missing.

Bridgewater police Lieutenant Tom Schlatz said that officers found drag marks on the floor of the business, and the floor where the 4-foot-tall safe had been secured was ripped up.

Who Stole the (Good) Hair?

From today's NYT:

In addition to the $150,000 Houston robbery this month, thieves have recently taken $10,000 in hair from a San Diego shop; $85,000 from a business in Missouri City, Tex.; $10,000 from a shop in Dearborn, Mich.; and $60,000 from a business in San Leandro, Calif. All the values were provided by the storeowners.
Law enforcement officials have been perplexed by the sudden increase in the thefts of hair and the violence that has accompanied some. Some agencies say they had been unaware of the trend before, and others are still learning about it.
“That’s the first I’ve heard of it,” said Denise Ballew, a spokeswoman for the F.B.I., who oversees data related to property crimes.

But with the increased profits has come violence, the police say.
In Dearborn, Mich., Jay Shin, the owner of Sunrise Beauty Supply, was killed during a holdup on March 15 by gunmen who stole 80 packages of hair extensions worth about $10,000. Two young men have been arrested.
Assaults have been reported even when only a small amount of hair is involved. In West Palm Beach, Fla., a 16-year-old girl sprayed a clerk with pepper spray last year as she made off with extensions. And in Lawton, Okla., the police said a customer who ran out of a store with extensions tried to escape with the store owner clinging to the hood of her car.
She said illegal hair was being sold everywhere, including by people who have come to her shop offering it to customers and by people who have tried to sell it to her on the street.
“ ‘Yo, I got some hair,’ ” Ms. Davis said, imitating the come-on.
