When people ask me how long I have been gay, as if it is the same type of choice light switch on and off a light bulb, tell them this story: I was a young child, and when Batman was on TV for the FIRST time (1966ish, so I would have been three and a half going on four), I clearly remember watching it and hoping his costume would burst open so I could see his chest. That would be the first realization that I was a bit different. I didn't want to be Batman. I wanted to marry him.
