They Smell Awful But It's Worth It
Of her Play Wigs, one woman said: "I received these as a gift from my grandmother and loved them! They did chafe your skin around the edges, and they smelled awful, but it was worth it to look like a Hollywood star! My sister and I used them when playing dress-ups."

I Had Nothing to do With This!
Collier deputies say a Golden Gate woman hit a stranger in the face multiple times and then walked across the street to finish a hair appointment.
The victim was sitting in her car at a service station Wednesday evening when an unknown woman came up and hit her in the face three times, according to an arrest report.
The attendant at Jiffy Lube, 4840 Golden Gate Parkway, recognized the woman as his ex-girlfriend, 26-year-old Dorys Leidys Quintana.
Quintana then left the service station and returned to a salon across the street where she was having her hair done, the report said.Read the rest here.

Bouffants!
I have to share this awesome fashion photo archive that I hadn't seen until yesterday. In a way, I'm glad I'm late to the party. The blog is over a year old and I'm having a great time looking at all of the photos on Of Another Fashion.
Here's a Q&A with the founder of the archive. It's a crowd sourced project, so if you have some cool vintage fashion images of women of color, why not contribute?

Call Me Anytime
Hello?
I'm sorry. What did you say?
Oh, you mean that noise? That's my Max Hatter hairdryer by Gillette. This thing really gives me more freedom to move.
Huh?
What? I can't hear you.
Oh, you can't hear me, either?
Well, thanks for calling me anyway...
Okay.
Bye.

Don't Do It Rita!!!
Every time I've ever read about this historic cut and color job that Orson Welles cooked up for Rita Hayworth before beginning "Lady From Shanghai", invariably it is mentioned that makeover was done without the knowledge of Columbia Pictures President Harry Cohn and he was furious.
Now I've spent the last few years researching and getting to know ol' Harry and I can say, with reasonable certainty, that no event with this kind of press coverage happened on Harry's lot without him knowing about it.
