My Favorite Palm Springs Philanthropist
This is Jackie Lee Houston, no doubt a lovely woman, who spends her time doing good things out there in the desert. I became aware of her existence via 111 Magazine. Seems this glossy is something you cannot subscribe to nor purchase. You receive it because you have been deemed worthy. Many hands had flipped through the pages before my grimy paws got custody. It was in these pages that I became acutely aware of Jackie Lee. After reading the magazine, one came away presuming that there's no charity Mrs. Houston isn't heavily involved with.
I just like that her hairdo is kinda like a chrysanthemum.

The Farrah:
Oh hello, please have a seat in my chair. Would you like a Fresca while my assistant gets out the frosting cap and whips up some bleach? Today in honor of that revolutionary hair trendsetter I’m offering up free Farrah Fawcett flips to everyone whether they like it or not. It’s my specialty.
Just look what I was able to do for the Serendipity Singers.
Each customer will also receive a free pair of complimentary spandex pants.

Mrs. Edwin Smith-Standish models the WASP look
The doyenne who embodies all things good taste and fine living found in Shaker Heights, Ohio, Mrs. Edwin Smith-Standish, has invited us into her into her home. We find her in the library overlooking her east garden. As she puts down her latest copy of the DAR Magazine, she greets us. "Do come in!"
She is known to her husband as Martha. Her school chums at Miss Porter's know her as "Smithy". Her children Edwin Jr., Miles and triplets Doreen, Colleen and Maureen know her best as "Mother" (Her youngest child, Bruce, a "free spirit and leathersmith living in San Francisco, call's me "Sunday's," she muses) and her grandchildren know her as Mrs. Smith-Standish. Mrs. Smith-Standish occupies her time overseeing the family home on South Park Boulevard, and attending club meetings when she isn't involved with charities involved with doing "good works". Holidays are spent hosting Thanksgiving and Christmas dinner at the country club for her family. And she drives a "sensible" Buick.
Not known for frivilous trends, and immune to fadish things, she has worn her her hair like this since 1965. Change her do? Cover that grey? "You sound like my stylist at "Andre Duvall!" she chortles. "Can you imagine me in a "Rachel" cut? What could be gained by coloring my hair?" She smiles, amused at our joie de vivre.
"Now, that would not be becoming to a woman of my age, would it. And I'm not interested in turning heads at this stage in my life. Mr. Smith-Standish would think I was out of my mind! No, this design suits me. Though I enjoy seeing women keeping up with the latest trends, our way suits us fine."
She depresses a button on the table next to her. "Estelle will be right in with tea and water cress sandwiches. I hope you will stay."

Little Baby Hairhopper
I was going to do a "guess who?" but I've already posted this at my own blog. Doesn't this photo explain everything? It sets the stage for my entire life. The sparkly chairs, my aunt's huge hair, her stilettoes - you can practically smell the Stylac and cigarettes. I spent many a childhood Saturday here. It was very Lipstick Beauty Salon.

Even The Wigs Are Bigger In Texas - Big D Baby!
And according to the shelf behind the Executrix, these wigs are award winning! My only question: Is the philodendron incorporated into the wig on the counter?

Did you know that we are soaking in it?
Dear Customers,
Perhaps you came for your appointments today and noticed that something was visibly different about The Hair Hall of Fame.
And you would be, correct. Our landlord, Blogger installed what it promised would be a nifty new design tool and it insisted that I use it today when I up loaded the new headline photo.
Needless to say that the expirience failed to meet the expirience promised.
Not since Lucy and Viv decided to spray paint the living room furnishing and then install their own TV antenna has there been a cluster fuck like the one that has ensued.
So we hope to crack the code tomorrow and fix everything right on up.
Hugs!

we interrupt this previously recorded hair
For some important news:
Mistress MJ of Infomaniac has asked me to relate this message to all her subjects:
"My blog was mysteriously removed overnight. What's worse is that my Gmail account says "account temporarily disabled" so I can't get into my Gmail either to correspond with any of you.Jason, please do me the favor of telling Ayem8y about this. His blog doesn't allow anonymous comments and I can't email him at this point. Jason, could you also leave a comment about this for me in the Hair Hall of Fame comment box?I can't leave a comment because it won't accept anonymous comments."
I'm not sure what's happening, but I hope it's only temporary.

There never was a girl like Gilda........
See for yourself tonight on TCM. Followed by "The Damned Don't Cry." It's a good night to be gay. Or friendly.
