  1. So sad.

I'll be recreating all of Liz's looks today for my clients whether they want it or not.

Who's up for a Cat on a Hot tin Roof...hairdo?

  3. For many Alexandre de Paris was indispensable. When Elizabeth Taylor became ill during the filming of Cleopatra, he flew to London immediately, at her request: “There, in her hospital bed, she was held up by three nurses while I created her famous artichoke cut,” he said. Alexandre was not above giving straightforward advice: he said that women should change shampoo every two months and give the hair at least 100 strokes with the hairbrush before bed.

  4. I'm really saddened by this news. Just as their will always be an England, somehow I always think of some people as constants in my life. She was one of them.

  6. She truly WAS the last great star.

Nice of you to create a THHoF header in her honour, Cookie.

  7. I see even the wonderful Ms Taylor didn't escape the Curse of the Champagne Blonde Colorant.

Sorry - hate to lower the tone and all...

  8. @Macy: I am so glad someone else lowered the tone around here for a change.

    I'll go one further...

@Margaret: I like at least a hundred strokes too.

  9. @ Macy - The one thing I gather about the great Elizabeth was that she was all for a little 'tone lowering' whenever possible.

  11. I've been in denial until a few hours ago. I have a great article on Alexandre in an old LHJ, I should scan.
